A family doctor for the 21st century

Healthcare is changing. Patients are increasingly taking an active role in their health care, demanding greater convenience, accessibility and flexibility of services. The traditional model of large, anonymous hospitals is being replaced in many cases by more community-based institutions that provide top-notch care but add personal and accessible access and a range of personalized services.

In many ways, this new approach, based on a personal relationship between doctor and patient, is closer to the tradition of family doctors.

With this idea in mind, the Prague-based premium polyclinic Program H Plus, a. s., has undergone a thorough rebranding process and entered a new era under the simpler name Health+. 

Change from the floor

The seventy-strong team at the clinic wants to build its approach to the patient primarily on trust between staff and patients, who often come to the facility with concerns. The initial phase of the rebranding was therefore intended to help express this effort externally. The change in name and visual style went hand in hand with a clarification of the main brand attributes, which are mainly quality, professionalism, humanity, individual and comprehensive care, accessibility and discretion.

The sense of mutual trust and the creation of a comfortable environment is not only matched by the visual identity, based on organic elements and a choice of colours that evoke a feeling of care and comfort but also by the interior design of the clinic.

Modern clinic from old offices

The new interior of the polyclinic, formerly an office space, reflects its new visual identity based on bold colours and organic shapes. The design aimed to create a welcoming and cosy environment that avoids the typical austerity of healthcare facilities.

Although the basic layout of the rooms was already determined, the designers were able to influence the final interior design. Rounded shapes appear in both the reception area and the consulting rooms, from the rounded corners of the walls to the furniture to the shape of the mirrors. This approach greatly softened the overall impression of the space.

The colour palette of shades of cream, cognac and brown was chosen to counteract the 'hospital' atmosphere and create a feeling of safety and relaxation. The materials were carefully selected with the practical needs of the clinic in mind. Rubber flooring and a special micro cement topping on the walls ensure easy maintenance.

Accessories combine aesthetics with functionality - for example, leather chairs for patients or unobtrusive disinfectant trays. In the reception and lounge area, which replaces the traditional waiting room, the designers chose a combination of wood and concrete. 

Clean minimalism

Floors and surfaces usually play a major role in healthcare, although they often do not attract much attention. Colours usually recede into the background; in the case of the H+ clinic, their neutral colour scheme allows the deliberately subtle colour accents of furniture accessories and equipment to stand out.

Everything here is subordinated to perfect hygiene. The more the colour is subdued, the more the properties of quality materials stand out, such as in this case the natural rubber from Artigo, applied to the floor, and the designer micro cement topping on the walls around the toilets, all the sinks and some other areas in the consulting rooms. 

Perfectly smooth surface

Natural rubber is one of the best materials for continuous surfaces that are easy to maintain, making them particularly suitable for places where hygiene is crucial, such as hospitals nurseries and schools. Artigo's production technology can create smooth rubber surfaces in large sizes (supplied in rolls of at least 10 m), minimising the number of seams.

Artigo rubber floors do not contain plasticizers that evaporate over time, so the floors do not open at the seams.
